My name is Abby Smith and I have just finished three years of teaching at Greenhill School in Addison, TX. I began my teaching career as a Lucinda Carter Teaching Fellow at Greenhill School in 2007. For this one year position I was mentored by a master teacher as I co-taught Pre-kindergarten for the 2007-2008 school year. I was fortunate to be hired by Greenhill after the Teaching Fellowship finished as a Multi-Age pre-kindergarten teacher. I taught in that classroom for two years while I was in the Master of Arts in Teaching program at Texas Woman’s University.
Upon graduating from TWU in August 2010, I will be beginning a new teaching position at Trinity School in Atlanta, Georgia as a lead Pre-kindergarten teacher and World Languages teacher for this innovative program. I hope that Trinity School is my “forever” school; one in which I can see myself teaching for many years in the future. As I continue on my teaching journey, I hope to become a team leader of a grade level team sometime in the future, and possibly continue to implement new programs at schools, as I will at Trinity School for the upcoming year.
